Best area to stay in Bern
The Old Town (Altstadt) is the best area to stay in Bern. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with medieval arcades, fountains, and cobblestone streets. Staying here puts you within walking distance of all major sights, including the Zytglogge, Bern Cathedral, and the Federal Palace. The main train station is right at the edge of the Old Town, making arrival and departure very convenient.
Other good areas
- Kirchenfeld - A quieter residential neighborhood just across the Kirchenfeldbrucke bridge, home to several museums. Slightly lower prices than the Old Town.
- Breitenrain - A hip neighborhood north of the station with local cafes and shops. Good value for money.
