How to Get to Venice from Brazil

There are no direct flights from Brazil to Venice. The most common routes connect through European hubs like Frankfurt, Lisbon, Paris or Amsterdam. The main airport is Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE), located about 12 km from the historic center on the mainland.

Main airports

  • Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) — The main airport serving Venice, with international and European flights. Located in Tessera, on the mainland.
  • Treviso Airport (TSF) — A smaller airport about 40 km from Venice, used mainly by low-cost airlines like Ryanair.

Getting Around Venice

Venice is a city built on water — there are no cars, buses or taxis inside the historic center. You get around on foot or by boat.

Vaporetto (water bus)

The vaporetto, operated by ACTV, is Venice's public transport. The main lines are:

  • Line 1: Travels the entire Grand Canal with all stops — the best line for sightseeing.
  • Line 2: A faster route along the Grand Canal with fewer stops.
  • Line 5.1/5.2: Circular lines connecting the main islands (Murano, Lido).

Tickets and fares

  • Single ticket: €9.50 (valid for 75 minutes)
  • 24-hour pass: €25
  • 48-hour pass: €35
  • 72-hour pass: €45

If you're staying more than a day, the passes are much more economical. Buy them at ACTV ticket booths, vending machines, or through the official ACTV website.

Traghetto

The traghetto is a gondola-style ferry that crosses the Grand Canal at several points where there are no bridges. It costs just €2 per crossing and is a fun, affordable way to experience a gondola ride.
